As part of a 2001 - 2002 Library Service and Technology Act grant project The Mohawk
Valley Library Association will be holding the 'Safe Farms, Safe Food, Safe Futures'
Conference. We are seeking farmers, agricultural administrators, community health
professionals, 'next generation' farmers, concerned consumers and the general public
as attendees. Our goal is to explore a wide range of issues focusing on farm safety
in its widest interpretation -- from tractor safety to financial planning and risk
management; the quality and safety of our food supply; and ways to attract young
people to farming so as to insure a secure future for them and the local agricultural
economy.

The conference is scheduled for March 7, 8 & 9, 2002. Beginning with a social hour and
hors d'oeuvres reception on Thursday evening, March 7, 2002 at the Ramada Inn, 450 Nott
Street, Schenectady, NY. The conference will continue through early afternoon on Saturday,
March 9, 2002 and will be held at both the Ramada Inn and the Schenectady County Public
Library, 99 Clinton Street, Schenectady, NY.

On Friday morning New York Times best-selling author Jo Robinson will deliver the keynote
address. Other conference presenters include Sue Ackerman, RN, from the New York Center
for Agricultural Medicine and Health; Erica Burnham and Peggy Falls from the National
Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region; Marcia Eames-Sheavly from the
Department of Horticulture, Cornell University; Mark W. Grennan from the Hudson-Mohawk
Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc.; the Hayes Family of Sap Bush Hollow
Farm in Warnerville, New York and Craig Holdredge from the Nature Institute, Ghent, New
York. Workshop topics will include factory farming, grass-fed meats, biotechnology,
sustainable cuisine, encouraging children to garden, farm family safety, safe farm visits,
sourcing and affording safe local foods, as well as Internet training on consumer health
topics in an agricultural context.

For the complete 'SAFE FARMS, SAFE FOOD, SAFE FUTURES' conference schedule, see:
http://www.mvla.org/SFSFSF/conference.html.

Registration is $50.00 for the full conference or $30.00 for a single day. Conference
registration brochures will be available shortly. Please feel free to contact Rebekah Tanner
at (518) 355-2010, rtanner@sals.edu for additional information.

Early-bird reservations at the Ramada will be $74.00 per night until February 15, 2002 and
should be made directly with the Ramada. The phone number is (518) 370-7151.

I write asking for your indulgence in re-profiling funds which we want kept under your supervision.

The Funds totaling Fifteen Million Two Hundred Thousand U.S. dollars have been derived over time from a project awarded a foreign firm by my Department. I work with The Department of Minerals & Energy here in Pretoria.

I propose 15% percent for you, while we also propose that we receive 75% percent and 10% percent be earmarked for purposes of taxation in your country and mine.

I am available on my Secured Tel/Fax Line: +27 11 507 6327

Yours Faithfully,

David Pasela.
