Does anyone know about a specific bean fertilizer
used by South American farmers - apparently it's a 'magic bean' that
restores vital nutrients to the soil x-tra effectively. It maybe called
'macoona' but not sure, would like as much info as possible.
Perhaps it is not so much a
fertilizer as it is a bacteria (an inoculant)that help legumes
assimulated micro-nutients. Perhaps this will help in your search --best
of luck. a amateur bean breeder. G B
The professor's name is Jules Pretty, put
Professor at the university of Essex, put Professor Jules Pretty in the
search and it will give you the web site.
Those interested in more information about the
Mucuna bean should check out the web address below. It's Professor
Pretty's (BBC Documentary, The Magic Bean), briefing notes compiled for
the docu. V.informative.
It is possible to purchase the Mucuna bean (also
known as the Velvetbean), from the site
http://echonet.org/shopsite_sc/store/html/beanseed.html (root:

HOWEVER, is it possible to
have seeds shipped from over seas (US I believe in this instance),
without any problems, or must there be permission given by government
departments (eg Department of Agriculture)?
