Hi everyone, I had found Streets Blue Ribbon Extras - (which were the next best thing to Homer Hudson) and indulged as often as possible in them. After I had bought all the icecream available in the freezer, they never replaced it so Im back to my 'Hunt for Homer'. How devastating is it to lose Homer Hudson and then the next best thing to it????????

Dear Alex,
Yes I have tried Connaisseur and I must say that it is a pretty close
second. I think it is the best substitute for Homer that I've tried.
Speaking of Homer yet again, I have a theory on why Homer may of dissapeared
from the myriad of icecreams on offer. I believe that Homer was made from
nonpasteurized milk and/or milk products and the US government is very
particular about the use of such products as there are possibilities of
health side-effects. The government (FDA), has banned fresh cheeses (fewer
than 60 days old) that use unpasteurized milk, many years ago, due to public
health concerns. Cheese made with unpasteurized milk that are more than 60
days old (aged), is still available due to public uproar about the possible
banning of some of their favourite cheese varities. Anyway, because Homer
was made with unpasteurized milk, I think is why it has disappeared to. I
will try to confirm my theory by contacting the FDA and see if they can shed
some light. Ill keep you posted.
Bec.

Dear Elaine,
Have you tried Connaisseur icecream? I think you will be pleasantly
surprised. I think its the best of all the ones I've tried after having to
go without my Homer.
I wrote to another Homer fan about a theory I have about why Homer
disappeared. I'll do some more research and see what I can find out. I'll
let you know how it goes.
Bec.

EMAILNOTICES>no

I can't believe I found this sight - I have been pursuing the famous Chocolate Rock Ice cream for years in every 7- Eleven, Supernmarket, milk bar.

I have never, ever tasted anything like it since. I feel at least I can have some peace now reading all your entries. Ahhhh the memories...

For lovers of icecream truth:
Homer Hudson went the way of all things devoted to being the best that get taken over by big business. It used to be made in South Australia by a small, independent icecream maker and the chocolate rock had so much dark chocolate in it it stained your mouth black. Then of course Streets bought them out and profit margins came first etc etc hence the demise of HH, and yet another glory passed from this earth.
