metalife interaction viewer is a database for
protein-protein interactions. the information is gathered from
genome-wide experiments, text extraction from the article abstracts, and
protein databases' text fields. because of the variety of sources used,
the presented data cover the textbook information and the latest
experimentally detected interactions. at present, the database holds
37500 proteins, which are involved in over 87000 interactions. the
reliability of the text-extracted interactions could be significantly
improved by the usage of recently developed scoring system.
according to the type of interaction, the
interactions are categorized to direct, complex, functional and genetic.
the interactions have a brief description and reference to the original
article where they had been reported. the application offers a tool for
revealing of possible pathways by looking for a route between distant
interacting partners. besides in HTML, the results could be downloaded
in XLS and TXT formats and the interaction network could be visualized
via FLASH based viewer. there the proteins are shown in their actual
subcellular locations and it allows fast expansion of the interaction
network and results filtering. as the interaction
viewer is connected with the rest metalife products, additional textual
annotations and physico-chemical properties of the proteins and their
coding genes are available. |
