As a part of our
diversification programme, we are
looking into
the following areas in India, where we
seek help
for technology development and basic design
and
engineering aspects for -
1) Handling, storage
and transportation of
foodgrains.
2) Silos for storage and distribution, silos for
sugar and its connected distribution network.
Recently, Government of India have announced the
National Storage Policy for introducing modern
technology for bulk handling storage and
ransportation
of foodgrains in India and the
Indian Government is
looking for the companies
with the State of Art,
Technologies for these
projects to be implemented in
India. The
Government will allow upto 100% foreign
direct
investment and guaranteed returns on the same
from Food Corporation of India. These projects
will
have Central Warehousing Corporation as the
nodal
organisation and they will interact with
the Indian
and foreign investors on behalf of
Government of
India. For your information and
reference, we are
giving herewith the salient
features of the storage
policy recently announced
-
1) Creation of silos with integrated bulk
handling
facilities with large capacities (
maximum one million
tons ) at about 20 locations.
2) Utilisation of these facilities will be
guaranteed by the Food Corporation of India to
the
extent of 100% for the first 10 years and 75%
for the
next 10 years.
3)
The Indian Government have approved various
fiscal incentives for the participation of the
Indian
private sectors and foreign companies for
the creation
of bulk handling facilities as given
below :
a) Schemes such as built - own - operate
-
transfer ( BOOT ), built - own - lease -
transfer (
BOLT ), built - own - operate ( BOO ),
lease -
develop - operate ( LDO ).
b) Generation of funds through public issues.
c) Automatic approval for foreign direct
investment upto 100%.
d)
Customs duty exemption on imported machinery
not
manufactured in India.
e) 100% deduction in
profit for the purpose of
Income Tax for the
first 5 years.
The brief responsibility of the
bidders shall be -
1) System design and
engineering of storage and
handling system.
2) Design, selection and provision of bulk wagons
compatible with operations in Indian railways
system.
3) Transportation logistics from
procurement to
distribution storages.
As on date the following locations have been
selected
for the establishment of modern food
storage handling
and transportation facilities as
Phase I of this
project :
a) In Procurement Areas :
Nabha, Barnala, Moga, Kaithal & Sirsa.
b) In Distribution / Export Areas :
Pipavav, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore &
Hooghly.
