International Symposium on Mountain Farming is
being organised by CECI (Canadian Centre for International Studies and
Cooperation) in the world’s newest mountain state. The symposium aspires
to bring together distinct stakeholders of mountain development
(Farmers, NGOs, donor representatives, researchers and policy makers) at
a mutual footing and integrate ideas and experiences in order to share
information and strive towards participatory development processes.
Moreover, it has multi-dimensional attributes, covering various
socio-economic issues and rights related to mountain livelihoods
including education, environmental health, indigenous systems, resource
management, agro-forestry, policy-making and gender equity. Thereby, it
is celebrating IYM in the true spirit of collectively highlighting the
hardships encountered by marginalized mountain communities, including
women and children, and step into an improved stage of interventions for
their overall development.
