Dear Mr. Nantz,
I am
assuming your roof is a metal roof, if not we need to identify the type
of surface you have. If you have a metal roof, the asphalt aluminum
'roof paint' is the correct coating to use. This coating is a paint and
not a roof coating type product commonly used on trailer homes and such.
This coating is designed to be spray applied, in a two coat application,
on lightly rusted metal and galvanized roofs as a cosmetic coat and
sealer.
As for your question on toxicity, once
dry, the coating would not leach any hazardous chemicals into rain
run-off. There is no reason, I am aware of, not to use this water for
watering plants or for washing. I would not recommend ingesting the
water for human consumption. There are special paints produced, needing
rigorous government testing and certification, to be used in 'Potable
Water' applications. In simple terms there are paints approved for use
in drinking water situations, our asphalt aluminum is not one of those.
Please feel free to contact us should you have
further questions or concerns.
