Cultivated in the Kaalar Belt (Narowal,
Baddomalhi, Narang Mandi etc.), a well-known area in Punjab (Pakistan)
for producing excellent quality of Basmati Rice since the last many
decades. This area (Known as Rice Bowl in the delta of river Ravi &
river Chenab and feet of Great Hamalya- Series of world’s highest
mountains) has special characteristics of ideal temperature, humidity
level and a unique combination of warm short days and cool long nights
during developing stage of grains (September & early October) for
producing the best quality of Basmati Rice.
The
second very favorable thing in this area for cultivation of rice is the
largest irrigation system in the world that provided adequate water
during the hot summer.
